Mediation brings two parties together to find agreement in a situation of conflict and/or estrangement. It may be a marital breakdown, family conflict, an employer/employee dispute, or some other organizational or community conflict. The goal is an agreement that both parties can accept and that allows them to move forward in their lives.
Sometimes situations (especially work place and organizational struggles) can benefit from an outside professional. They can hear the evidence and perspectives of all the parties, propose a balanced, fair, and equitable process for resolving the dispute, and help the parties move on. A good arbitration procedure can save legal costs, minimize individual and organizational disruption, and benefit all the parties involved.
When we can't find help, or fail to accept it, we hurt, and the people we care about most, hurt. Sometimes we just need a little help to find a path forward, to get a new perspective, to be nudged to face reality, or to have someone to walk through deep waters with us.
